Opa Bato and Other Melbourne Bands: Special Fundraising Events for Dušan!
Don’t miss out awesome fundraising gigs in famous bohemian bar Farouk’s Olive and other mostly Melbourne venues and bars this September! Much loved Melbourne musician and leader of well known Balkan brass band OPA! BATO from Melbourne Dušan Mitrović had a brain tumour removed on August the 28th following a seizure. Whilst the surgery went well, the long term prognosis is more problematic and he needs further treatment. To help out at this critical time, all proceeds from these fundraising September gigs will be donated to Dušan, his wife Tanja and their family. The entry costs $10 and you may donate more if you can and to a good cause! You may also give donation for Dušan, Tanja and their young family through MY CAUSE website.
September fundraising concerts started on Sunday (September the 2nd) with VARDOS trio performance of Romanian and Hungarian folk music. The first upcoming fundraising gig is OPA! BATO performance and it will take place at the Boite venue in Eltham (St. Margaret church) this Friday (September the 7th) from 8pm. After that, there will be double act this Sunday (September the 9th) with duo BOHEMIAN NIGHTS playing 7.30 – 8.30pm and OPA! BATO playing at 8:30 – 10:30pm at Farouk’s Olive (711 High St, Thornbury). Ernie Gruner’s and Phil Carroll’s vocal-instrumental duo BOHEMIAN NIGHTS is one of Australia’s leading exponents of Klezmer, Gypsy & Turkish music (& other styles!).
Every Sunday from 8pm there will be OPA! BATO gigs at Farouk’s Olive for the same cause. There will be many more special fundraising performances during September and you may find more information in our magazine and at OPA! BATO Facebook page. Stay tuned and help a good cause while having fun and enjoying top music and / or donate through MY CAUSE website. As musicians from OPA! BATO say – please come and please share!
